The Power of Inspiration in Shri Bhagavad Gita

Verses from Shri Bhagavad Gita that speak about inspiration:

The ancient Hindu scripture, the Shri Bhagavad Gita, offers in its poetic verses profound insights into an array of spiritual and existential world. One of the themes that is explored in Shri Gita is “Inspiration”

In Shri Bhagavad Gita, inspiration is seen as a source of strength and motivation. It is the power that allows us to overcome challenges and achieve our goals. Shri Gita teaches that we can all access inspiration if we are open to it. We need to be willing, to see with an open mind the intrinsic details of the creation around us, listen to our inner voice and to be receptive to the guidance of others. When we are inspired, we feel a sense of purpose and direction, can help us to overcome our fears and to achieve our goals. Inspiration is a gift that we all have the potential to access. If we are open to it, inspiration can help us to live a meaningful and fulfilling life.

The Power of Inspiration in Shri Bhagavad Gita

  • Chapter 2, Verse 40: “When a great soul is inspired by knowledge, he transcends all dualities and attains the supreme state.”
  • Chapter 3, Verse 29: “The inspired soul is not moved by pleasure or pain, gain or loss, honor or dishonor. He is always balanced and at peace.”
  • Chapter 18, Verse 57: “The inspired soul is unaffected by the pairs of opposites, such as pleasure and pain, heat and cold, honor and dishonor. He is always content and at peace.”

My all time favourite is this fable, it beautifully inspires us to do our best, irrespective of someone watching over us. If I as an individual can create that urge within me to excel in whatever I do, that’s when we have achieved 3/4th of the task.

I am sure we all would have heard this story in some form or other, but time again if we recollect this story, it helps us to chase excellence in our day to day tasks, ensuring we always give our best. It becomes a way of life.

….so goes the story.

A gentleman once visited a temple under construction where he saw a sculptor making a statue of God.

Suddenly he noticed a similar statue lying nearby. Surprised, he asked the sculptor, “Do you need two copies of the same statue?”

“No,” said the sculptor without looking up, “We need only one, but the first one got damaged at the last stage.”

The gentleman examined the statue and found no apparent damage. “Where is the damage?” he asked.

“There is a scratch on the nose.” said the sculptor, still busy with his work.

“Where are you going to install the statue?”

The sculptor replied that it would be installed on a pillar twenty feet high.

“If the statue is that high, who is going to know that there is a scratch on the nose?” the gentleman asked.

The sculptor stopped his work, looked up at the gentleman, smiled and said,

“I know it and God knows it!”
